Larry Maykin -
http://lazylarrywoodworks.com.au/
Who would have ever thought that the bloke who led us all around the parade grounds
of HMAS Leeuwin In 1974 wearing that tigers skin ceremonial garb and beating that
drum to "almost" the correct cadence, could come up with such beautiful woodworks in
2010!
Larry Maykin from our own Marks 46th has done what all blokes wish they could
do and turn a block of wood into something that is not only beautiful but something
that everyone one can use.
Baguette Boards, Cheese Boards, Chess boards, Chopping
Boards, Cutting Boards, Lazy Susan's and even supplies Torque Work Centers.
Larry
also has his own Blog and I am sure has mates rates for 46th JRs if you're interested in
purchasing some of his work.
Kym Leech -
http://www.noboundaries.com.au/
I only know two expert 4 x 4 outback drivers who I would take advice from. One of
them is Morrows 46th Kym Leech.
His website No Boundaries is extremely informative
and the website is huge with so many people interacting with him across the world.
It's also reassuring to know that that information can be at the end of a phone call
or an email when thinking of taking on Australia with any form of transport. I
joined up with Kym in South Australia and this website will drag you in to the
off road showrooms itching to get up and go.
I know Kym is planning the 5 year
trip that will make the "Leyland Brothers" look tame so if its advice you want
you had better be quick.
JRTE Golden Anniversary -
http://www.jrsreunion.org/
The Junior Recruits Golden Anniversary Team of Trevor Cangemi (Secretary), Alan Rodgers
(Treasurer) and Ian Dunn (Promotions) who have managed to bring together nearly 2,000
JR's and their partners from 1960 to 1984 for a July 2010 Golden Anniversary as well
as inadvertently bridging the communications gap to thousands of others who have now
reconnected with lost mates throughout Australia and other parts of the world.
The website does its job to outline all information that JR's need to come from across
Australia to reunite in July. A mammoth task to regularly up date information over a
long period of time should have this team handing over the reins and winding down the
site in the latter part of 2010.
From all 33 Marks Morrow 46th JR's attending the
reunion, our sincere thanks to this team for their work.
Defence Service Records -
Royal Australian Navy after 1970
If you have ever thought about accessing your service records, this is the place.
If the information is more than 30 years old you can obtain a copy (for a price)
via the website snail mail application. This could take up to 2 months after the
original application.
The site is a bit tricky in that headings lead to other
headings so read everything thoroughly or you will go in circles.
Remember at
this time in 2010 at the most you will only receive from January 1974 to 1980
information based on the 30 year limit.
Navy Newspapers 1958 to Today -
Navy News
This would be without a doubt the most interesting website there is for any sailor
who would like to reminisce events and old mates.
After viewing just two years of
fortnightly Navy Newspapers, I was dragged into every page looking for events and
old shipmates.
Photshop Line Book -
NAVY PHOTS
Allan Moore has a Webmasters dream of showing off all the great pictures throughout
the years with classic pictures of the 60s and 70s.
Probably more interesting to
JR's of the 24th to the 31st intakes as a great deal of the pictures are from
around their sea time.
Worth a look just to see the professional pictures that our
Navy Phots can provide. Also incudes its own forum and is probably worth getting
into if you want to stumble on some memorabilia of Ships and Asian Ports of call.
45th INTAKE (1973) -
http://www.45jrte.com/index.html
Hosted by Mark Lee the author of the Voice Pipe newsletter, this website is small
but personal and very professional.
Limited info to view but the availability for
its members to gain access to some fantastic Postcards with pass out pictures from
September 74.
Very well presented and Mark will be unveiling a huge communication
tool this year that will effect us all with regard to our websites.
42nd INTAKE (1973) -
http://42ndintake.homestead.com/index.html

Hosted by Don Hoges Hogarth.
Without a doubt up there in the top three
best Leeuwin websites, it is extremely well built, easy to navigate with fast
up load of pages.
The Roll call page has some great aspects and would no doubt
be some work for Hoges to keep updated due to the links.
Being Marks / Morrow and
the intake before the 46th it has some interest to us all.
1st INTAKE (1960) -
http://spicrosoft.com/JRTE1.htm
Spike Jones has a diversity of information available through out this website
from the obvious information of the JRTE 1st intake names and memorabilia to
information of how it was with routines etc at HMAS Cerberus during 1960.
As owner and webmaster, it is the information of his other talents besides website
building that is intriguing with pictures and info on Prospect mining to his
home made waste oil heater in "His Shed".
His Family Genealogy is very in-depth but
still a tribute to him and his "Crew".
34th INTAKE (1971) -
http://www.marksandmorrow34th.com/index.html
Webmaster Midge Mancini has produced the most versatile website of all of
the Leeuwin Websites.
Over 22 links ranging from pictures, stories, health
issues, from 3 pages of My Story, Footy Tipping and a good supply of pictures
and stories either from 1971 or current time.
Give yourself a couple hours of
viewing time to take it all in as it is vast.
8th INTAKE (1964) -
http://www.leeuwinclassof64.org/index.html
John Curbishley (Curbs) has produced a website with over 46 sub menus that all
open quite clearly and quickly.
Rogue's Gallery is one of my favourites that has
an endless array of pictures across the board bouncing from Leeuwin to sea and
to places of my favourite memories like Sembewang.
49th INTAKE (1974) -
http://www.49ers.com.au/index.html
Pete Mills has I think improved this website to bring it up a few notches from
when I first viewed it.
Most links with the exception of the links page work
well and I can't help checking out the picture of Harry Sullivan in the Service
Gallery on board Vampire. Classic picture!!!!
